Prelude Prep is a tuition-free public charter school serving students in Pre-K through 8th grade in San Antonio.
We are seeking a Middle School ELAR Teacher who is passionate about literacy, critical thinking, and helping students develop strong communication skills. Whether you are an experienced educator or someone with a strong background in reading, writing, communications, or a related field, we are looking for someone who believes students can achieve at high levels and is excited to help them get there.

Responsibilities
~1 min readAs a Middle School ELAR Teacher, you will help students develop strong reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills while fostering a classroom culture built on curiosity, effort, and academic growth.
Responsibilities include:
• Deliver engaging, standards-aligned ELAR instruction
• Use complex texts, meaningful discussions, and authentic writing tasks to develop literacy skills
• Create a structured classroom environment where students are challenged to think critically and communicate effectively
• Use student data to monitor progress and adjust instruction
• Build strong relationships with students and families
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve outcomes for students
• Participate actively in coaching, planning, and professional development
• Contribute positively to the culture and mission of the school

Requirements
~1 min read• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• Ability to pass a criminal background check
• Eligibility to work in the United States
Nice to Have
~1 min read• Texas teaching certification in ELAR
• Previous classroom teaching experience
• Experience working with middle school students
• Background in English, literature, communications, journalism, writing, or a related field
• Experience tutoring, mentoring, coaching, leading youth programs, or working with children in another setting
Teaching certification is preferred but not required. We are willing to invest in the right candidate who demonstrates strong content knowledge, a commitment to student growth, and the ability to build meaningful relationships with students.
