Profluent is the frontier AI lab for biology. Profluent builds powerful foundation models for all of life's molecules, unlocking solutions that transform medicine, agriculture, and beyond. Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Emeryville, CA, Profluent is backed by leading investors including Altimeter Capital, Bezos Expeditions, Spark Capital, Insight Partners, Air Street Capital, AIX Ventures, and Convergent Ventures and has raised over $150M to date.

Profluent Bio is looking for a People & Talent Specialist to support both Talent Acquisition and People Operations. This is a hands-on, high-impact role: roughly 70% of your time will be dedicated to recruiting — partnering with hiring managers and delivering an exceptional candidate experience — with the remaining 30% supporting core People Operations programs including onboarding, HRIS administration, and employee lifecycle processes.

You will be a key partner in helping us attract, hire, and retain great people while keeping our people programs running smoothly. This is a fast-paced, all-hands-on-deck team environment — we’re looking for someone who’s excited to jump in wherever needed and genuinely wants to be part of the team.

Responsibilities

~2 min read
  • Act as the primary day-to-day point of contact for candidates, owning their experience from first interview through pre-hire — timely communication, seamless logistics, and a personal touch that reflects who we are.
  • Manage full-cycle recruiting coordination for assigned requisitions, including intake meetings with hiring managers, job postings, interview coordination, and offer support.
  • Coordinate and schedule interviews across multiple stakeholders and time zones; ensure interviewers are prepared and debriefs happen promptly.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date candidate records in Greenhouse and provide regular pipeline reporting to hiring managers.
  • Deliver a consistently positive candidate experience from first touch through onboarding, including timely communication with all applicants.
  • Support employer branding initiatives such as careers page content, job description quality, and recruiting events or career fairs.
  • Track and report recruiting metrics (time-to-fill, scheduling turnaround, offer-acceptance rate) and recommend process improvements.
  • Own new-hire onboarding logistics: background checks, offer documentation, I-9/E-Verify, equipment and systems coordination, and first-week scheduling.
  • Maintain employee records and data integrity in Rippling; process employee lifecycle changes (new hires, transfers, promotions, terminations).
  • Support benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and employee questions.
  • Assist with compliance requirements such as required postings, policy acknowledgments, audits, and employment law recordkeeping.
  • Help administer People programs including performance review cycles, engagement surveys, and recognition initiatives.
  • Support the Head of Talent & People Ops in fielding day-to-day employee questions — helping triage, route, and resolve requests while escalating sensitive matters appropriately.
  • Partner with the front office team on special projects and company events, including event coordination and ordering lunches for candidates and teams as needed.

Requirements

~1 min read
  • 2 - 4 years of experience in recruiting, HR, or people operations; experience supporting full-cycle recruiting strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Working knowledge of Greenhouse (ATS) and Rippling (HRIS), or comparable platforms
  • Familiarity with core employment practices and compliance fundamentals (EEO, I-9, FLSA basics)
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; able to manage multiple requisitions and priorities simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with sound judgment and discretion handling confidential information
  • A warm, people-first personality with positive energy - you will often be the face of the company to candidates and visitors
  • A flexible, team-first mindset: comfortable in a fast-paced environment and happy to pitch in beyond the job description when the team needs it

Applicants must have ongoing work authorization in the United States that does not require employer sponsorship. Sponsorship will not be provided now or at any time in the future for this position.
