Legal Analyst I

Corporate and Transactions Team - Legal Analyst
Protective Life Corporation has an opening in its Birmingham, Alabama corporate office for a legal analyst to join the Legal Department and work with the Corporate and Transactions Team in connection with regulatory and corporate governance matters.  

Key Responsibilities
•    Research requirements and prepare legal and regulatory filings
•    Communicate with state insurance regulators and internal stakeholders 
•    Support corporate governance activities for Boards of Directors and committees, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, coordinating with presenters, preparing meeting materials, drafting resolutions, and drafting meeting minutes
•    Maintain organized records

Skills, Abilities and Knowledge Required
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills
•    Careful attention to detail 
•    Highly organized with proven time-management skills
•    Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite 

Preferred Qualifications
•    Experience working in a highly regulated industry, particularly the life insurance industry 
•    Experience supporting corporate governance processes and board operations 
•    Paralegal certification
•    Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field  

Minimum Requirements
•    Minimum of three years of corporate paralegal experience 
•    Associate’s degree and high school diploma or equivalent
