PsyPhyCare, a division of Business Staffing of America, Inc., is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as a Health Occupations Instructor in Oneonta, New York 13820.

Our client operates a comprehensive residential program serving young adults ages 16–24, providing career and technical training to prepare students for meaningful employment and independent living. The instructor will deliver engaging, industry-recognized nursing instruction and hands-on training to help students develop the knowledge and practical skills needed for careers in the healthcare field.

This is an on-site, full-time instructional position within the Career and Technical Training program. The Health Occupations Instructor will develop and deliver lessons, assess student performance, and provide hands-on learning experiences aligned with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have an active New York State Registered Nurse license, an Associate of Applied Science degree, and at least two years of related experience in geriatrics.

This is a contract position with full-time availability, up to 40 hours per week.

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday
  • Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • No weekends required
  • Location: On-site in Oneonta, NY (no telehealth or remote option)

    Responsibilities

    • →Provide industry-recognized instruction and practical training in healthcare and nursing-related subjects.
    • →Develop lesson plans, prepare instructional materials, and recommend curriculum updates and supplemental resources.
    • →Administer, grade, and document assessments to evaluate student knowledge, proficiency, attendance, and overall progress.
    • →Adapt instructional strategies and materials to accommodate students with different educational backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
    • →Provide individualized coaching, tutoring, and guidance to help students achieve their training objectives.
    • →Maintain an organized, supportive, and engaging classroom environment that promotes student participation and professional development.
    • →Motivate and counsel students regarding behavior, study habits, training challenges, and personal concerns affecting their progress.
    • →Supervise and evaluate students during practical training and on-the-job learning experiences.
    • →Facilitate hands-on activities and career preparation exercises that reinforce healthcare knowledge and workplace readiness.
    • →Monitor student performance and provide constructive feedback to support skill development and successful completion of the training program.
    • →Maintain accurate instructional records, including attendance, assessment results, and student progress reports.
    • →Collaborate with program staff to support student achievement, retention, and career readiness.
    • →Perform other related duties as needed to meet the ongoing needs of the program.

    Requirements

    • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree.
    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of New York.
    • Minimum of two years of related experience in geriatrics.
    • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional methods, classroom management, and healthcare-related subject matter.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
    • Ability to engage, motivate, and support young adults in a structured learning environment.
    • Ability to learn and apply Job Corps instructional methodologies and training strategies.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other common computer applications.
    • Ability to use a variety of instructional methods, educational media, and hands-on teaching techniques.
