Database Administrator – Oracle / NoSQL

## Company: Qualcomm Intl Inc., Mexico Branch Office ## Job Area: Information Technology Group, Information Technology Group > IT Engineering General Summary: About the Role We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator to join our global database engineering team, supporting mission-critical data platforms across our worldwide operations. In this role, you will own the design, performance, availability, and security of a heterogeneous database estate spanning enterprise relational, NoSQL and cloud technologies deployed across on-premises data centers and the cloud. You will partner with application teams, SREs, security, and infrastructure engineers to ensure our data tier meets the demands of a 24x7 global business. What You'll Do * Operate, maintain and manage SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis caching and Neo4j across Linux and Windows. * Design and implement HA/DR solutions - AlwaysOn Availability Groups, MySQL/MongoDB replication and sharding, Redis Sentinel/Cluster * Own backup, patching, and upgrade lifecycles; build automation that replaces manual activities. * Monitor health and performance with Datadog & Prometheus. * Enforce database security, access controls, and automated compliance reporting. * Plan capacity, forecast growth, and lead data migration and integration projects across heterogeneous platforms. * Manage incidents, changes, and problems in ServiceNow; resolve tickets within SLA and document resolutions clearly. * Periodically participate in weekend on-call rotation and planned patching and maintenance activities. Required Qualifications * 3+ years of database administration experience with a bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of database administration experience without a bachelor's degree. * Production SQL Server DBA experience (including T-SQL & Always On availability groups) * Expertise in at least one additional database platform (MySQL or MongoDB) * Strong fundamentals in database architecture, replication, clustering, and backup/recovery. * Experience implementing high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions. * Scripting for automation in Bash and PowerShell; comfortable on Linux and Windows Server. * Strong communication and documentation skills; able to explain complex issues to non-DBA audiences. * Experience working with globally distributed teams and supporting workloads across multiple time zones. Preferred Qualifications * Experience with AWS RDS for MySQL or other cloud-managed database platforms * Working knowledge of Redis for caching and in-memory data and Neo4j or another graph database. * Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipeline experience for database delivery. * Familiarity with observability stacks; Datadog, Prometheus * Experience mentoring or leading a small technical team. Minimum Qualifications: • 3+ years of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree. OR 5+ years of IT-related work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.
