R&D – Linux Android Platform Engineer

## Company: Qualcomm China ## Job Area: Engineering Group, Engineering Group > Software Engineering General Summary: Job Function Develop and maintain Qualcomm Android platform software for consumer and Home & Life devices, working closely with global teams to deliver high‑quality, scalable Android solutions for Qualcomm chipsets. This role focuses on Android system integration, performance optimization, and platform enablement, with opportunities to support emerging workloads such as AI/ML inference and hardware acceleration on modern consumer platforms. Your responsibilities will include: * Develop, customize, and optimize Android platform software, including Framework, Native, and system components. * Support platform bring‑up, integration, performance tuning, and issue debugging across product variants. * Analyze requirements and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver stable and scalable Android solutions. * Work with hardware acceleration components (CPU / GPU / NPU / DSP) to enable high‑performance system features. * Support customers and internal teams in Android platform integration, feature enablement, and issue resolution. * Participate in documentation, technical communication, and best‑practice development. * Assist in enabling and integrating emerging workloads, such as AI/ML inference pipelines, within Android system environments. Preferred Qualifications * 5+ years of experience in Android platform development, with solid understanding of Android system architecture (boot flow, Binder IPC, HAL, native services). * Strong knowledge of Linux fundamentals, including process/thread, memory, and system debugging. * Excellent C/C++ / Java programming skills, with good coding practices. * Proven capability to debug issues across layers (Framework → Native → Kernel). * Familiar with Git, repo, GNU make, Python, and Linux shell scripting. * Good written and spoken English, able to work effectively with global teams. Nice to have: * Experience with Android BSP, system bring up, or low level components (HAL / Native / Kernel). * Exposure to AI/ML related workloads on Android, such as model inference, hardware acceleration, or integration with AI SDKs. * Basic familiarity with frameworks like PyTorch, ONNX, or AI inference runtimes is a plus. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field. • 2+ years of academic or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc. Qualcomm is an equal opportunity employer.
