A well-established and structured international import organisation is seeking an analytical, detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join their finance department. Operating within a fast-moving commercial environment, this in-office position is essential for maintaining comprehensive financial accuracy across global supply chains. The role provides an excellent opportunity for a developing finance professional to manage daily core accounting operations, directly supporting fiscal health from ledger management to trial balance. The standard working hours for this full-time position are 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday. Key Responsibilities Core Accounting Operations: Manage the full-function transactional flow, executing accurate processing of accounts payable and receivable, and maintaining the general ledger up to trial balance. Import Ledger & Forex Coordination: Oversee foreign creditor accounts, maintain accurate costing sheets, and handle the precise tracking of landed costs, shipping duties, and forward exchange contracts (FECs). Treasury & Reconciliations: Perform daily cash book allocations, manage petty cash disbursements, and conduct rigorous supplier ledger reconciliations to ensure complete visibility of working capital. Compliance & Statutory Reporting: Assist senior finance leadership with the preparation of monthly management accounts, VAT submissions, and all documentation required for statutory audits and regulatory compliance. Requirements Experience: A minimum of 2 to 3 years of foundational full-function accounting or bookkeeping experience. Prior exposure to an import/export, shipping, logistics, or manufacturing environment is essential. Education: A completed Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related commerce discipline from a recognised institution Core Competencies: Exceptional numerical precision, a robust understanding of double-entry bookkeeping rules, and the ability to systematically reconcile complex international accounts. Preferred Qualifications Progress towards or intention to pursue a professional accounting designation (e.g., SAIPA, CIMA, or AGA/SA). Required Software Skills Microsoft Excel: Intermediate to advanced proficiency, specifically with data manipulation formulas, VLOOKUPs, and Pivot Tables. Accounting Frameworks: Hands-on operational experience with standard accounting software platforms such as Sage Pastel Partner, Sage Evolution, or Xero.
