LIMS Data Analyst (Science & IT Systems)

A leading scientific services organisation is seeking a LIMS Data Analyst to bridge the gap between technical IT infrastructure, laboratory operations, and external client requirements. This role focuses on the lifecycle of data, inspecting, cleansing, and modelling, to provide actionable insights that drive commercial and operational decision-making. The successful candidate will play a critical role in customer-focused IT projects, ensuring that technical deliverables align with the practical needs of the laboratory and the expectations of the customer. Standard office hours apply, though flexibility may be required to meet project milestones. Key Responsibilities Facilitate communication between IT, Operations, and Customers to ensure project requirements are translated into technical deliverables. Perform comprehensive data analysis, including the cleansing and transformation of complex datasets to support business conclusions. Provide production support for the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and broader IT software. Manage system administration tasks, including configurations, patches, upgrades, and detailed system documentation. Develop customised reports for internal management and external stakeholders based on specific data requests. Support the development and troubleshooting of Excel macros and system enhancements to improve workflow efficiency. Collaborate with LIMS Administrators and Laboratory staff to ensure data integrity and system functionality. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or Biotechnology. Proven background in a scientific discipline such as Chemistry, Microbiology, Environmental, or Food Science. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, specifically regarding data manipulation, Index/Match functions, and complex formulas. Strong understanding of laboratory operations and the ability to manage customer-facing support requirements. Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Confident communicator capable of engaging with diverse stakeholders, from laboratory technicians to external clients. Preferred Qualifications Practical experience in a laboratory environment or a science-based commercial setting. Experience with LIMS Master Data management. Formal training or certification in Data Analytics or SQL. Required Software Skills Microsoft Excel - Advanced, Microsoft Excel with VBA, SQL, Crystal Reports, LIMS, Visual Basic Programming, SQL Server Services.
