Upfit Installation Technician

·       Perform scheduled vehicle up fit on company vehicle fleet.

·       Manage parts and accessories inventory in the Fleet department, promptly notifying Procurement for reorders when needed.

·       Upfit vehicles, flooring, cabinetry, PPE, tools/tool storage, electrical work, and any other necessary accessories.

·       Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all areas within the Fleet department, both internally and externally, by performing tasks such as sweeping, mopping, trash removal, proper oil/fluid disposal, and shop organization.

·       Ensure the parking lot remains clean and organized to facilitate vehicle movement, locate vehicles easily, and maintain a safe environment.

·       Collaborate with the Facility Maintenance Technicians for proper disposal of waste, metal scrap, and hazardous materials (both solid and non-solid).

All potential hires are subject to pre-employment checks which include but are not limited to background checks, drug screenings, and motor vehicle record checks.

·       High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in automotive, electrical, or a related trade preferred.

·       Prior experience with vehicle upfitting, fleet maintenance, automotive installation, or a similar hands-on technical role preferred.

·       Basic to intermediate knowledge of 12V electrical systems and wiring.

·       Ability to read and interpret installation diagrams, work orders, and manufacturer specifications.

·       Experience using hand and power tools for installation of flooring, cabinetry, shelving, and tool storage systems.

·       Basic inventory management skills, including tracking parts/accessories and communicating reorder needs to Procurement.

·       Understanding of proper handling and disposal procedures for solid/non-solid waste, metal scrap, and hazardous materials, or willingness to be trained.

·       Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly around shop cleanliness and vehicle lot organization.

·       Ability to work safely with tools, equipment, and materials in a shop/warehouse setting.

·       Physical ability to lift/carry up to [insert weight, e.g., 50 lbs], bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.

·       Valid driver's license may be required to move vehicles within the lot.

·       Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with Facility Maintenance, Procurement, and Fleet department staff.

This position is classified as heavy work, involving the operation of machinery, power tools, and heavy equipment. Job tasks may require various physical activities such as walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, along with moving about the warehouse to various work areas. Physical demands include the ability to constantly lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and occasionally to 100 pounds. Manual dexterity is crucial for operating machinery, tools, computers, and handling materials. Clear articulation and voice control are essential for effective communication with both internal and external customers via telephone. Specific vision abilities essential for this role include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Additionally, visual acuity is necessary to read documents, schematics, and equipment displays.

This role operates within a shop/warehouse setting with frequent exposure to oil, grease, and dirt, as well as extreme seasonal temperatures, and vibration. Occasionally, the role may entail working in elevated conditions, encountering harmful or corrosive chemicals, and facing the risk of electric shock. There is potential exposure to hazards related to equipment movement and harmful chemicals/solvents if proper safety procedures are not followed. Noise levels typically range from moderate to high.
