About the Role

Working across two 24 hour 7 days a week Emergency Departments, including after-hours, weekends and public holidays, and reporting to the NALHN Emergency Department (ED) Office Manager, you will provide high-quality frontline administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the Emergency Department and the delivery of exceptional patient care. The administration team that keeps these departments running is just as important as the clinicians on the floor. Responsibilities

As an Administration Officer – ED Reliever, you'll provide essential front-line administrative support across the Emergency Department, stepping into relief coverage across a variety of shifts. Your responsibilities will include:

  • →Registering and admitting patients, maintaining accurate records in clinical information systems
  • →Coordinating patient flow administration, including bed management documentation and discharge processing
  • →Supporting clinical staff with clerical tasks to keep the department running efficiently
  • →Communicating professionally with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members in a high-pressure environment
  • Demonstrated experience in an administrative or customer-facing role, ideally within a health or community services setting
  • Confidence navigating electronic patient management or records systems
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise competing tasks accurately
  • Clear, respectful communication with people from diverse backgrounds and circumstances
  • Availability and flexibility to cover relief shifts, including evenings and weekends as rostered
  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn, SA Health confidentiality and patient privacy obligations

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.
