About the Role
~1 min readThe Nurse Practitioner - Paediatric Emergency Department (PED) and Child and Adolescent Virtual Urgent Care Service (CAVUCS) - works across both services to provide timely, expert assessment and management of paediatric patients. Within the PED, the Nurse Practitioner works as part of the nurse led See and Treat Service and ACE model, providing prompt assessment, treatment and discharge of patients allocated to this service. Within the Virtual Care Service, the Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive assessment, clinical management, and appropriate follow-up of patients via the hospital paediatric virtual care service

Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Contribute expert nursing assessment and advice to local clinical teams to achieve integrated nursing care within a risk management framework.
- →Initiate, develop and implement educational and/or clinical protocols/standards.
- →Lead the development of education resources for health professionals and patient/client groups
- →Contribute specific expertise to monitoring and evaluative research activities in order to improve nursing or midwifery practice and service delivery
- →Provides leadership and direction, acts as a role model, mentor, consultant and resource person.
Requirements
~1 min read- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate with the notation of Nurse Practitioner.
- Demonstrated ability to work as an autonomous practitioner and/or as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 5 years post registration experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Nurse Practitioner’s role.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, industrial agreements, standards, codes, ethics and competency standards
