About the Role

~1 min read

Join SA Pathology in Whyalla and play an important role in supporting high-quality laboratory services that make a real difference to patient care. As an Operational Services Officer, you’ll contribute to the smooth and efficient flow of specimens by sorting and accessioning samples, accurately entering data, and assisting with specimen preparation, storage and transport in line with established protocols. Working as part of a collaborative team, you’ll build positive relationships with medical, scientific, technical, operational and administrative colleagues, as well as clients, while helping ensure specimens, testing and results are managed accurately and efficiently.

Located at the top of the Eyre Peninsula, Whyalla offers the chance to enjoy a unique lifestyle where the outback meets the sea. Take in the views from Hummock Hill lookout, enjoy the foreshore and jetty, go fishing or spot dolphins, and explore the town’s museums and gardens. In winter, experience the spectacular Giant Cuttlefish aggregation, or venture further afield to discover the scenic Eyre Peninsula. With sporting and community clubs, a local airport with daily flights to Adelaide and plenty to explore close to home, Whyalla is a great place to build your career while embracing a relaxed coastal lifestyle.

You’ll bring a strong focus on accuracy, quality and customer service, along with the ability to work confidently in a busy laboratory environment. You’ll have:

  • Extensive experience sorting and preparing pathology specimens, with strong attention to detail
  • Proven ability to prioritise competing tasks, meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure
  • Strong computer, data entry and information systems skills, with sound knowledge of pathology testing requirements
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with experience training and supervising staff and resolving customer enquiries
