Medical Assistant

A healthcare professional is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join their practice. The role will involve working between the Stellenbosch and Somerset West locations, supporting both clinical and administrative functions to ensure the smooth running of the practice and excellent patient care. Working hours: Monday to Friday 7:30am to 5:00pm Responsibilities: Provide patient education based on diagnosis and treatment plans. Perform comprehensive eye examinations and visual tests according to patient medical history. Type and send reports to service providers. Assist with in-room procedures. Follow clinical protocols, ensuring all equipment is sterile and practice hygiene standards are maintained. Order lenses and medical supplies. Arrange, compile, and communicate theatre schedules to service providers, hospitals, day clinics, and anaesthetists, and liaise with patients. Compile referral letters and reports as needed. Submit PMB (Prescribed Minimum Benefit) applications where applicable. Requirements Previous relevant work experience. Strong nursing skills. Computer literacy advantageous. Knowledge of PMB submissions and referral letter/report compilation beneficial. High reliability and strong work ethic. Ability to work well under pressure. Willingness to work as part of a team.
