Sr. Manager, Marketing (Location Based Experiences)

Universal Live and Location-Based Entertainment globally drives expansion of NBCUniversal’s intellectual properties, franchises, characters and stories through innovative live consumer experiences, based on the company’s extensive portfolio of intellectual properties created by Universal Pictures, Illumination Entertainment, DreamWorks Animation, Amblin Partners and NBCUniversal’s Television groups. Universal Live and Location-Based Entertainment is a business division of Universal Destinations & Experiences (UDX).
The Senior Manager, Location Based Experiences will assist in the development and execution of strategies for touring exhibitions, escape games, themed cafes, family entertainment centers and other types of location-based entertainment experiences. This role will report to the Sr. Director, IP Partnerships and Brand Assurance and will be responsible for overseeing and tracking the IP submission strategy for UDX location-based entertainment team, ensuring collaboration and communication with the business development Team, licensees and IP partner(s).
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Maintain relations with IP partners for the review, approval, and use of intellectual properties in the Live Entertainment marketing creative, products and experiences. Provide IP brand expertise to review and advise the Live Entertainment team and Licensees in the preparation and submission of materials to IP partners. Coordinate with IP partners on presentations of their respective film/TV/product content for brand immersion with new Licensees, agencies, and vendors.
- →Participate in meetings with regional and global licensees to discuss current and upcoming projects for better support. Develop best practices in organization, processes and approval trackers to ensure crucial deadlines are met and effective communication is achieved between all parties for each licensed experience. Look for unique marketing efforts and industry trends within live and location-based entertainment, and proactively call out new ideas to keep consumer messaging refreshed.
- →Partner with necessary stakeholders and franchise team members in an effort to communicate assigned live entertainment projects effectively as well as ensure proper approvals are obtained and provided to the applicable licensees. Work closely with franchise leaders to keep current on IP awareness, affinity data and consumer data and trends that can directly affect strategic decisions and development with licensed location-based entertainment deals. Understand licensee contractual obligations and assist in obtaining legal clearances as well as administer conflict checks with sister departments.
- →Maintain online tracking system, currently WorkFront, for each submission and processing of contractually mandated approvals, keeping track of requested revisions and alerting departments on deadlines. Provide input and participate in staff meetings to discuss new opportunities and assist in review of proposals. Engage and partner with UDX Legal team to ensure adherence to licensing parameters and IP partner brand guidelines.
- →Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
- →Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Legal or related field preferred.
- 7+ years of live and location-based entertainment experience or experiential event production, including expertise with creative vendors and marketing agencies. ; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven track record of developing and executing complex location-based and touring experiences in accordance with milestone timelines and under tight deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task and deliver on multiple projects and be decisive under pressure.
- Excellent understanding of maintaining brand and property positioning, licensing, and partner management.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
- Must be willing and able to travel extensively, sometime with short notice, domestically and internationally.
- Must be open to working early mornings, evenings and/or weekends, when necessary, based on international partners and agreements.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, as well as with Keynote.
- Effectively handle sensitive and confidential matters.
