At RES, we’re looking for purpose-driven individuals who are passionate about restoration and sustainability, and who want their work to make a lasting environmental impact. Our team members go above and beyond, bringing initiative, integrity, and a strong work ethic to every project. Collaboration is key—we thrive on teamwork, open communication, and diverse perspectives. In a field that constantly changes, we value those who are resilient, adaptable, and resourceful in the face of challenges. If you're intellectually curious, eager to learn, and ready to help restore ecosystems and protect natural resources, you’ll find your place here.

RES is looking for a Manager to lead the Project Accounting function across regions and business units. This collaborative role develops project accounting professionals and partners with Operations and Finance departments to manage the month-end close process for the Project Accounting function, identify risks, improve cash performance, and support RES's revenue, gross profit, and EBITDA goals.

You will lead project accounting across RES’s portfolio of environmental restoration, mitigation, construction, and professional services projects. Your work will include ensuring projects are set up correctly in the system, with accurate contract values, budgets, billing terms, project structures, revenue recognition methods, and reporting requirements.

You will partner closely with project managers and operational leaders to review project performance, including revenue, gross profit, margins, estimates to complete, billing, cash, forecasts, and budget changes. You will help identify risks early, challenge assumptions, and support teams in developing accurate forecasts and corrective actions.

A key part of your role will be overseeing billing, collections, work-in-progress, unbilled and deferred revenue, reserves, and project closeout. You will also review financial adjustments, cost reclassifications, journal entries, change orders, and contract requirements to ensure project information is accurate and aligned with RES policies and US GAAP.

You will own key project accounting activities during month-end close, including revenue and cost accruals, percentage-of-completion updates, reconciliations, reporting, and audit support. You will work with Accounting and Finance partners to resolve system, timing, classification, and reporting issues.

As a people leader and business partner, you will coach and develop project accountants, improve team consistency, and help strengthen project accounting processes, tools, systems, and controls. You will build trusted relationships across Accounting, Finance, Operations, Commercial, Contracts, Legal, and project leadership while translating financial information into clear operational insights.

We would like to talk to you if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field,
  • Seven+ years of progressive accounting, finance, or project accounting experience in a project-based or similarly complex environment.
  • 2+ years of experience leading, supervising, or developing accounting professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of project accounting, GAAP, revenue recognition, work-in-progress, forecasting, billing, and accounts receivable.
  • Ability to analyze project performance, identify risks and corrective actions, and partner effectively with project managers, operational leaders, and senior stakeholders.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with ERP, project accounting, or financial reporting systems.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with direct reports, cross-functional teams, and senior leadership.

What will make you stand out:

  • CPA, CMA, MBA, or other relevant certification
  • Experience supporting relevant project types across multiple regions, legal entities, or business lines within the environmental mitigation or similar industry.
  • Experience with ERP, financial close, project management, forecasting, or business intelligence tools, preferably NetSuite and OneStream, plus familiarity with contract review, change orders, retainage, lien requirements, and construction billing documentation.
