This role will lead the implementation and management of curricular and instructional initiatives in the Archdiocese of Washington (ADW).
The Director for Curriculum and Instruction supports school leaders and teachers in implementing ADW curriculum standards, strengthening instructional practices, analyzing student assessment data, and fostering continuous professional growth. This position collaborates closely with all members of the Catholic Schools Office (CSO) to advance academic excellence and reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent for Catholic Identity and Academic Excellent.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Collaborate with other Catholic Schools Office departments and Archdiocesan offices to support strategic educational initiatives.
- →Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission of Catholic education.
- Coordinate the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of Archdiocesan PK–8 curriculum standards and instructional resources across all content areas.
- Assist with the integration of Catholic identity and mission throughout curriculum development and instructional initiatives.
- Facilitate the work of the Curriculum Committee and guide long-range curriculum planning and review processes.
- Support schools in understanding and implementing Archdiocesan curriculum standards and learning objectives.
- Evaluate and recommend instructional materials, textbooks, and supplemental resources aligned to Catholic values, curriculum standards, and educational best practices.
- Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with curriculum publishers, educational organizations, and other external partners.
- Serve as a resource to school leaders and teachers on effective instructional practices and research-based teaching strategies.
- Collaborate with the Academics Team to coordinate instructional support and mentoring opportunities for new teachers.
- Promote best practices in teaching and learning in schools through consultation, coaching, and professional development activities.
- Support schools in analyzing and utilizing NWEA MAP Growth and other assessment data to inform instruction, identify priority standards, and strengthen student achievement.
- Coordinate the annual Data Summit and other initiatives that support continuous school improvement through the effective use of data.
- Design and facilitate professional learning opportunities for school leaders and teachers through workshops, conferences, webinars, and online courses.
- Provide training and support related to the Danielson Framework for Teaching and teacher evaluation processes.
- Facilitate the work of the Teacher Evaluation Committee and guide ongoing improvements to teacher evaluation systems and instructional support practices.
Requirements
~1 min readThis position operates primarily in a professional office environment and requires regular use of standard office equipment. The position requires the occasional set up of events, training, and job fairs. Travel to archdiocesan schools is required, as well as occasional evening meetings or events.

The salary range for this position is: $80,000 to $95,000 with excellent benefits

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and educational technology platforms.
- Master's degree or higher preferred
- Degree in Curriculum and Instruction or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in PK–12 education.
- Administrative or instructional leadership experience preferred.
- Demonstrated success in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Experience designing and facilitating professional development for educators.
- Experience analyzing student achievement and assessment data to inform instructional decision-making.
- Knowledge of instructional best practices and assessment systems.
- Experience facilitating committees, workgroups, or collaborative professional learning communities.
