The Academy of the Holy Cross seeks a full-time Science Teacher to join our Science Department for the 2026–2027 academic year. The ideal candidate will inspire curiosity about the physical world and help students see physics as a way to understand motion, forces, energy, systems, design, and problem-solving.

This educator will primarily teach 9th-grade Physics, including Honors Physics, engaging in inquiry- and project-based learning experiences that invite students to explore phenomena, build and test ideas, analyze evidence, and connect physics concepts to everyday life. The ideal candidate will create a classroom where students develop confidence as scientific thinkers, problem-solvers, and designers.

The position also offers opportunities to teach within our broader STEM program based on the candidate’s background and interests. Current and future coursework may include Honors Medical Physics, Honors Applied Chemistry, engineering, or other STEM electives.

The Science Department at the Academy of the Holy Cross fosters scientific literacy, curiosity, and critical thinking through hands-on, student-centered learning. We seek a passionate educator who is eager to collaborate with colleagues, strengthen curricular coherence, and contribute to interdisciplinary STEM initiatives. Additional opportunities exist to support engineering, a maker space, robotics, and other innovation-focused programs across the school.

The Academy of the Holy Cross, a Catholic College preparatory school sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Cross since 1868, is dedicated to educating young women in a Christ-centered community which values diversity.  The Academy is committed to developing women of courage, compassion and scholarship who responsibly embrace the social, spiritual and intellectual challenges of the world.

All faculty and staff must demonstrate a commitment to the Core Values of the Academy: community, Catholic identity, academic excellence, educating the whole person, tradition, diversity, leadership, single-sex education, environment, and communication.
