About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mid-Term Planning Mining Engineer to join our team as a Software Implementation Consultant. This role bridges mine planning expertise with technology delivery, supporting mining operations in the successful implementation, configuration, and optimisation of mine planning and scheduling software solutions.
You will work closely with mine planning teams, technical services, and software developers to ensure tools are aligned with operational realities and business objectives.
This role is based from our Perth CBD office. Regular domestic travel and on-call availability is a requirement of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead or support the implementation of mid-term mine planning and scheduling software at client sites
- Translate operational requirements into practical software configurations and workflows
- Configure, test, and validate planning models, schedules, and optimisation outputs
- Provide technical guidance and best-practice advice on mid-term planning methodologies
- Train and support mine planning engineers and planners in the effective use of software tools
- Assist with data preparation, model validation, and scenario analysis
- Support change management by aligning software solutions with existing planning processes
- Identify opportunities for workflow improvement and value creation through technology
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline
- 5+ years’ experience in mine planning with a strong focus on mid-term planning
- Hands-on experience with mine planning and scheduling software (e.g. Deswik, MineSched, XPAC, Datamine, or similar)
- Strong understanding of mining methods, sequencing, constraints, and production targets
- Experience supporting or leading software implementations or system rollouts
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Desirable Skills
- Consulting or client-facing experience
- Exposure to multiple commodities and mining methods
- Experience working with optimisation and scenario-based planning tools
