We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Technical Accounting Manager to join our finance team. The Technical Accounting Specialist position will provide leadership and oversight for technical accounting guidance and support stakeholders as the subject matter expert in accounting standards and complex accounting issues.

Responsibilities

→Prepares formal accounting position papers and memos for complex, material, and/or non-routine accounting issues, including key US GAAP topics such as revenue recognition, share-based compensation, and business combinations.
→Partner with business stakeholders with the accounting and reporting implications of transactions while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and policies
→Assist to operationalize financial reporting, risk management reporting and regulatory reporting requirements and needs
→Acts as the subject matter expert in providing consultation, advice, and day-to-day guidance regarding technical accounting
→Participate in SOX compliance activities by documenting end-to-end financial processes, control points, and related walkthroughs for key business cycles.
→Support the design and documentation of new or updated controls when processes change, ensuring alignment with SOX and internal policy requirements.
→Remain current on applicable and evolving financial reporting standards and securities and regulatory requirements and developing accounting/business issues
→Participate in preparation of internal and external financial statements
→Liaison with external auditors during the annual audit and quarterly reviews as required
→Establish strong relationships with cross-functional peers
→Contribute to building the technical infrastructure and control environment to support the company’s hyper-growth
→Support the development, maintenance, and documentation of accounting policies and relevant technical accounting guidance.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (required).
CPA designation (or equivalent) required
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting best practices.
Experience documenting financial processes and internal controls in a SOX or similar compliance environment.
Excellent understanding of accounting software and ERP systems
Strong collaboration and organization skills
Must be detail oriented with an analytical mindset
Highly motivated and a strong desire to take initiative and learn
Effective written and oral communication skills to articulate and present memos to internal and external stakeholders.
Capable of working with minimal supervision, multi-tasking to establish priorities, and completing objectives without supervision in a fast-paced environment.
Experience working with media and/or technology infrastructure companies a bonus

Annual Compensation Range:

$130,000-$150,000 CAD base + benefits + equity
