Salary range: $65,000 - $70,000 Placement within the range is typically based upon a review of skills, experience, and internal equity.

Within SAIT’s Applied Research and Innovation Services (ARIS), the Green Building Technology Access Centre (GBTAC) brings together a multidisciplinary team of researchers, designers, trades professionals, and engineers dedicated to advancing and commercializing novel green‑building technologies in partnership with industry.
SAIT is seeking a Project Coordinator – Energy (Research Associate) to join the GBTAC team. This role is ideal for an intermediate engineering technologist or entry‑level engineer with strengths in engineering processes and project coordination, ideally supported by a construction background. Experience in planning, designing, implementing, and testing innovative mechanical, electrical, or building systems is considered an asset.
Reporting to the GBTAC Research Chair and working closely with Principal Investigators in Building Science, Energy Management, and Environment, the successful candidate will be enthusiastic, adaptable, and committed to sustainable development. Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving ability, organizational excellence, communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office are essential. Experience in residential or commercial construction, building design, project coordination, data analysis, and team support will be highly valued.
Project Work, Subject Matter Expertise
Project management and project coordination responsibilities, including managing industry partners, clients, and vendors assigning tasks to Research Assistants, students, and other team members
Data analysis, technical support, and onsite work including installation and construction oversight as needed
Support in project initiation tasks, including scopes of work, budget and scheduling
Develop and run material tests and analyses, familiarity with testing equipment
Manage project budgets, professional services providers (contractors and consultants), procurement, and documentation
Organize and maintain project schedules and see that assigned deadlines are met for work that is being managed
Report progress updates verbally and in written form to management, as needed
Complete any necessary administrative tasks (timesheets, workplans, expenses)
Demonstrate commitment to client’s needs and confidentiality
Report Writing and Proposals
Support and write content as necessary for Federal and Provincial grant fund applications
Assist with compilation of information/data/metrics that may support funding applications, funding/technical reports, industry letters of support, award nominations, and grant reporting metrics
Provide quality review regarding proof reading, formatting and consistency of reports
Education and Networking
Participate in seminars and other organized scientific and technology discussions
Pursue other activities that maintain and advance professional growth. These activities may include attending workshops/seminars, conferences, and presenting project information (as needed)
Networking and engagement activities including supporting tours of the GBT facility, presentations and associated preparation, and working with Indigenous communities
Diploma or degree from a recognized university or technical institute in engineering or a related field
3–5 years of experience with building science principles, building energy systems, and interpreting technical documentation such as construction drawing packages and construction practices
Preferred experience in data analysis, technical writing, material testing and analysis, building energy modelling, or building energy assessments
Preferred registration or certification such as Certified Energy Manager, Engineer‑in‑Training, or Certified Engineering Technologist
Supervisory experience is preferred

Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse personalities
Ability to plan and coordinate informational programs and collaborate effectively with others
Strong organizational skills with the ability to align objectives to tasks, milestones, and metrics
Familiarity with project management procedures, construction industry processes, and administrative documentation
