Pisgah Special Education Occupational Therapist
Quick Summary
The Pisgah Program at SAR Academy, a Modern Orthodox,
Pisgah is SAR’s integrated support program, which combines the need for intensive support with the benefits of learning as part of the whole-school community. Pisgah offers children the support of a full-time Special Education teacher, along with related service providers, while also allowing them to learn in a General Education classroom. This hybrid approach allows for strong peer models as well as the intensive support a student may need. Pisgah is the Hebrew word for summit and reflects SAR’s commitment to ensuring that students are given the support they need to climb their own personal mountain and reach their own personal summit in an educationally and socially supportive community environment.
The Pisgah Occupational Therapist works closely with other members of the Pisgah team, composed of Pisgah Special Education teachers and assistants, psychologists, and Speech-Language Pathologists. The Occupational Therapist will play an important role in supporting students’ fine motor development, sensory processing, self-regulation, and participation in classroom routines and academic tasks. The OT will provide both direct services and consultative support to teachers and staff, helping students access the curriculum and develop the functional skills needed for success in school.
Experience supporting students with sensory regulation, fine and visual motor development, handwriting, executive functioning, and adaptive skills is strongly preferred. Familiarity with school-based service delivery models, collaborative consultation with teachers, and interpreting occupational therapy evaluations is important.
