Engineering Support roles encompass a diverse range of positions that provide technical assistance and expertise to engineering teams across various disciplines. These roles may involve tasks such as conducting research, performing analyses, and assisting in the design and development of engineering projects. Engineering support professionals work closely with engineers and other stakeholders to ensure projects meet quality standards, deadlines, and budgetary constraints.

Designers develop designs and generate design output documents in Electrical, Plant Design, and Civil/Structural/Architectural discipline areas. Responsibilities include generation of design drawings and documents in accordance with applicable codes and 3D Modeling as applicable. Designer responsibilities include (not limited to) design of equipment (including panels and cabinets), ducting, piping, raceways, gloveboxes, and electrical and structural features to conform to codes, optimize operations and maintenance activities, ensure constructability, and provide worker safety. They also prepare, review and approve design change forms, review vendor documents, incorporate details into 3D models, and resolve construction issues. SRNS is seeking to hire an Experienced HVAC Designer in Design Engineering. This position will support current operating facilities and ongoing/upcoming projects, like K-PuMP, TFF, and others to come.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in relevant field plus at least ten years of experience (YOE), OR Master's degree in relevant field plus at least eight years of experience (YOE), OR Doctoral degree in relevant field plus at least five years of experience (YOE)
• Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered

• Nuclear Facility Ventilation Experience preferred
• Experienced in S3D, SmartPlant Review, SmartPlant Foundation, and Microstation
• Experienced in:
o Generating HVAC duct and equipment layout drawings
o Generating site layout, piping layout, and detail drawings
o Developing and modifying 2D and 3D piping and HVAC system models using Microstation and S3D Software
o Coordinating with Mechanical, Structural, and Electrical Designers and Engineers for design integration
o Generating isometric drawings and bill of materials
o Participate in design reviews
• Prefer 20+ years of designer experience

• Roles in this band apply the knowledge in area of expertise to analyze information; design and develop new approaches, methodologies and processes; and, provide professional advice and guidance to others in accordance with professional quality standards
• Applies a theoretical knowledge-base to work to achieve goals through own work
• Characterized by specific functional expertise typically gained through formal education
• May provide guidance to others as a project manager using technical expertise

Requires specialized expertise in field/discipline acquired through significant years of experience, leading others to solve complex problems, working independently with guidance in only the most complex situations; may lead functional teams or projects.

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.
