We have an exciting Chemical Room Operator opportunity at our processing plant facility. In this role, you will be a key member of the sanitation services team.  The chemical room operator is responsible for managing the chemical room and its products used in sanitation activities to ensure the plant is cleaned and sanitized to achieve high cleanliness levels and maintain product integrity according to the Company’s and USDA’s standards.

Responsibilities

  • →Management of the product inventory, storage, mixing, and monitoring of chemicals used in the sanitation process.
  • →Maintains all required records for the chemicals used in the process and evaluates data for required usage and compliance.
  • →Ability to perform simple titration checks to monitor chemical usage in sanitation activities.
  • →Ability to troubleshoot issues with chemicals, equipment, and the overall process.
  • →Collaborates with plant management on improving systems and processes that impact all sanitation activities.
  • →Adheres to all Company, local, state, and federal food safety and workplace safety policies and procedures.
  • →Ensures corrective actions are taken and implemented when an issue is identified that the program has failed to prevent a hazard within the production process.
  • →Complete and thorough understanding of new and current federal, state, and local regulations that affect sanitation activities associated with food manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in engineering, chemistry, microbiology or a related field or equivalent or laboratory experience in a food manufacturing facility.
  • Strong knowledge of chemical and mechanical systems and processes.
  • Knowledge of sanitation regulations, including those specific to the protein industry preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with sanitation management software and MS Office applications. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility and primarily will be on the production floor. 
  • The employee must regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • This position is primarily on the production floor and will have limited office time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment requires you to always wear hearing protection on the production floor.
