You’ll be working on some of the most high-profile water infrastructure projects in the industry, helping to secure Water for Life for generations to come.

As the Senior Media & Communications Advisor, you will support the delivery of proactive and reactive media and communication strategies that protect and enhance Seqwater’s reputation. The role provides strategic advice to senior leaders, manages media and government stakeholder relationships and develops clear community-focused messaging on complex issues. You will play a key role in crisis and incident communications and contribute to building community trust and confidence in Seqwater’s services and operations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of proactive and reactive media strategies aligned to organisational and reputation objectives.
  • Provide strategic media advice, briefing and training to executives and spokespeople, including interview preparation and real-time guidance.
  • Draft and approve high-quality media materials, ensuring clear, accurate and consistent messaging.
  • Build and maintain strong media and stakeholder relationships, managing sensitive and high-risk interactions.
  • Lead media responses during incidents and crises, delivering timely, coordinated and effective communications. 

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in communications, media, PR or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience (7+ years) in media relations, communications or public affairs, including high-profile or sensitive issues.
  • Proven ability to provide strategic media advice to senior leaders in a trusted advisor capacity.
  • Strong capability to translate complex or technical information into clear, audience-focused messaging.
  • Experience building and managing relationships with media, government stakeholders and internal partners.
  • Sound judgement and ability to operate effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced and sensitive environments.

This role will be offered on a fixed term contract until 30 June 2028, with a salary ranging from $122,730 - $133,528 (dependant on experience) plus 12.75% superannuation.
