Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on over 2,000 open circuit dive equipment items

• Maintain equipment in accordance with Office of the Chief of Naval Operations Instruction (OPNAVINST) 4790 (series) and the 3M system

• Maintain and repair equipment including:

  1. Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus (SCUBA) tanks and regulators
  2. Air compressors and oxygen charging systems
  3. Buoyancy compensators and flotation devices
  4. Depth and pressure gauges
  5. Underwater communications equipment and full-face masks

• Overhaul and set operating limits for breathing regulators

• Conduct inspection and hydrostatic testing validation of high-pressure cylinders

• Maintain Diving Life Support System (DLSS) equipment in accordance with Navy standards

• Assist with maintenance of MK 25 Underwater Breathing Apparatus (UBA) and related systems

• Perform maintenance documentation and administer the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) SKED program

• Manage inventory of repair parts and forecast procurement requirements

• Utilize Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS) or equivalent systems for equipment accountability

• Conduct spot inventories and equipment issue/receipt transactions, including use of Department of Defense Form 1149 (DD1149)


• Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of Outboard Motor Maintenance and Overhaul experience

• Experience: Preventative and corrective maintenance of dive equipment

• Experience: U.S. Navy Dive Manual requirements and maintenance standards

• Certification: Navy Dive School certification (Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC) 5342/5343 or higher)

• Qualification as:

• Material Maintenance Management (3M) Maintenance Man

• 3M Quality Assurance (QA) Craftsman

• 3M Work Center Supervisor

• Factory-trained technician for diving equipment within inventory

• Diving Life Support System (DLSS) Re-Entry Control (REC) Supervisor

• Oxygen clean system worker

• MK 25 Underwater Breathing Apparatus (UBA) maintenance technician

• Clearance: Secret

• U.S. citizen

• Driver’s License required

• Must be able to operate Government vehicles and equipment

• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications

• Must demonstrate excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

• Must maintain high attention to detail and accuracy

• Must be capable of working independently with minimal supervision

• Must have knowledge of logistics and inventory systems

• Must be capable of operating within classified environments and systems (Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET) / Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET))

• Must comply with all safety, security, and workplace regulations

• Ability to lift and handle dive equipment and cylinders

• Capability to stand, bend, and work in maintenance environments for extended periods

• Ability to work in industrial, warehouse, and dive support environments

• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)

• Ability to work in hazardous environments involving pressurized systems and oxygen equipment)

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen, and write. The employee frequently is required to use foot/ankle motions, hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
