Security Manager (Baltimore/Washington Campus)

What to Expect:

• The Security Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive security program for the portion of the organization to which they are assigned.
• Oversight of all security personnel, policies, and systems at their respective reporting location(s) in alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational policies to ensure the safety and security of patients, students, clients, staff, visitors, and Sheppard Pratt property.
• Collaboration with various departments to support a secure environment, respond to security incidents, and provide leadership in emergency preparedness and incident response.

Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, years and level of related experience. 

What we need from you:

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field.
• 5 years of management experience in security, law enforcement, or related field. An additional 5 years of security or law enforcement management experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Extensive knowledge of security and emergency management best practices, particularly in healthcare settings.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations regarding hospital/school/program security and patient privacy (HIPAA).
  • Understanding of physical security systems, including CCTV, access control, and alarm systems.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop a diverse team.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with staff, patients, and external agencies.
  • Analytical skills for assessing security risks and implementing effective solutions.
  • Highly effective problem-solving skills sufficient to design and implement a security plan and coordinate the work to carry it out, as well as the ability to identify potential security problems and to recommend and implement solutions.
  • Ability to remain calm and make quick, effective decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Capacity to work with hospital management to design and implement strategic security plans.
  • Physical ability to patrol hospital grounds and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Familiarity with the security standards associated with The Joint Commission accreditation is highly preferred.
  • Protection methodologies (proactive risk mitigation, threat intelligence, layered security) experience is preferred.
• Valid state driver's license and must meet requirements as outlined in Sheppard Pratt's transportation policy.
• Must be available during emergencies, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Travel between hospital campuses and organizational sites as needed.
