Elementary School Permanent Substitute Instructional Assistant (Bilingual English/Chinese)

Responsibilities:

• Provide a backfill for Instructional Assistant absences. Selected candidates will be assigned to support the needs of the elementary school. As a reference for the typical responsibilities of an Instructional Assistant, please refer to the general Elementary School Instructional Assistant job description here.
• Provide interpretation support. A priority for this role will be to support the interpretation needs throughout the school. Selected candidates will be part of the School's list of eligible interpreters and will be expected to:
  • Provide interpretation and/or translation services when needed.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of information shared in any interactions with SAS parents, students and/or educators in which you are invited in to provide interpretation or translation support.
  • Be adaptable and willing to work with key stakeholders across the school (e.g. faculty members, support staff, school leaders, parents, students, safeguarding lead, etc).
• Perform playground supervision duties as part of day-to-day instructional assistant responsibilities.
• When not performing interpretation duties, most of the permanent substitute’s time will be spent substituting in classrooms. Permanent substitutes are also expected to be adaptable and willing to assist with other assignments or responsibilities, as needed.
• This is a full-time substitute role that will be on campus during all school workdays and shall be willing to commit to a one year contract.

This permanent substitute instructional assistant position will be paid at a rate of $120/day. The work schedule is Mon-Fri, 7.30am - 3.15pm.
