Position Overview
The Student Union, Inc. is 501(c)(3) nonprofit auxiliary that maintains three major facilities at San José State University in downtown San José, California. These facilities include the Diaz Compean Student Union Building, the Provident Credit Union Event Center (PCUEC), and the Spartan Recreation and Aquatic Center. The Student Union, Inc. functions as part of the Student Affairs Division on campus, and is governed by a Board of Directors made up of a student majority, faculty, and administrators.

Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Marketing & Information Services Manager and the Marketing Supervisor, responsible for the coordination and development of photographic needs in support of the Student Union, Inc., including stock, architectural, portrait, design photography and video production for digital and marketing use.

Essential Functions and Tasks

Plan, analyze, and execute principal photography and videography for the auxiliaries graphics area, including stock photography, architectural photography, portraiture, design photography, and video content.
Select appropriate angles, lighting, background, and primary subject matter to enhance desired features to produce the most aesthetically effective and informative photograph.
Manage the processing and use of images, review technical problems, and check for quality.
Work directly with external clients, department managers, and SJSU faculty & staff to coordinate availability, staging, and protocol.
Responsible for ensuring the cosmetic quality of Student Union, Inc. photographic needs.
Prepare processed photographs for both print and digital use, from large format banners to web thumbnails and social media.
Maintain and curate Graphics Department photo archive.
Manage photographic workflow on a daily basis and self-assign tasks when a photographic need is identified.
Contribute to creative process, from conceptual design phase to end product.
Capture and produce video content for events, promotional materials, social media, and internal use.
Operate video equipment including cameras, stabilizers, lighting, and audio equipment to ensure high quality production.
Edit photo and video footage to create polished final products aligned with the Student Union branding.
Collaborate with marketing team to storyboard, plan, and execute marketing campaigns for social media from concept to completion.
