The Company
Softdocs is a leading remote enterprise Software as a Service (SaaS) company specializing in serving Higher Education and K12 institutions, as well as State and Local Government through Etrieve, an enterprise content management (ECM) platform. With a remarkable 25-year history, Softdocs is committed to promoting educational and governmental equity by eliminating inefficiencies. Our core values of candor, collaboration, curiosity, grit, and inclusivity shape our approach to providing innovative solutions.

We are seeking a Cloud Operations Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, client-focused environment and is passionate about building, supporting, and optimizing cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with experience in cloud operations, automation, and troubleshooting who takes ownership, embraces continuous learning, and is committed to delivering secure, reliable, and high-performing solutions.
  • Provisioning: Provision, configure, and maintain cloud infrastructure — virtual servers, databases, storage, and other resources — to support client environments.
  • Troubleshooting: Act as the first responder for issues reported through Salesforce and Azure DevOps. Diagnose and resolve issues within client cloud environments, escalating as needed.
  • Cloud Asset Management: Track and manage cloud assets and resources across client environments, keeping inventory, configuration, and cost accurate and up to date.
  • Scripting and Automations: Build, test, and execute automations, pipelines, and scripts to support cloud operations.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Maintain monitoring and alerting tools (SIEM, Datadog, etc.) to ensure the health and high availability of client systems. Participate in the weekday and weekend on-call rotation.
  • Security Operations: Maintain security tools (including but not limited to WAF, antivirus, SIEM, and CSPM) and access controls, and support ongoing compliance efforts.
  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional and engineering teams to resolve issues and support the delivery of end-to-end products and features.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay current with cloud technologies and operational best practices, with emphasis on our current technology stack and cloud cost management (FinOps).
  • Knowledge of enterprise-class business applications with low-latency, high-performance, 24x7 environment support
  • Understanding of operational security and defense-in-depth concepts
  • Experience provisioning and configuring cloud resources across multiple client environments
  • Experience troubleshooting web applications and cloud environments
  • Proficient in managing cloud resources such as Azure, AWS, etc.
  • 2+ years of server administration experience (Windows, Linux, etc.)
  • 1+ years of database support experience
  • Experience with cloud asset/resource management and monitoring or ticketing/ITSM tools
  • Experience supporting enterprise-level software environments
  • Familiarity with PowerShell or other scripting languages is a plus
  • Analytical — strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to logically troubleshoot on the fly
  • Creative / Innovative — thinks outside the box; inspired to put your touch on the work
  • Continuous Learner — proactive in learning new features and other product platforms, displaying your curiosity along the way
  • Collaborative — contributes to the success and growth of the team and self
  • Client Oriented — does right by the client; challenges our team to make sure we are doing right by the client
  • Resourceful — takes initiative to research information before asking for assistance
  • Detail Oriented — executes tasks in a methodical way to meet deliverables on time and anticipates risks to clients' software implementations
  • Challenge the Status Quo — questions how and why work is done to understand and identify opportunities to improve. We look for individuals who have grit from day one!
  • Work Ethic — possesses an infectious motivation to deliver work, defaults to getting things done, and works smart
  • Experience with Etrieve Platform
  • Experience in on-prem to cloud migration
  • Experience with Microsoft IIS
  • Experience with querying languages such as SQL
  • Experience with Salesforce
  • An associate or bachelor's degree in technology, engineering, or a related field is preferred, or two or more years of equivalent work experience
  • Coursework or practical experience supporting hardware and software systems in a cloud environment
  • Softdocs is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
