Our client is a well-established commercial landscape contractor serving the greater Jacksonville, Florida region. They specialize in commercial irrigation, large-scale landscape installations, and outdoor construction projects for general contractors, commercial developers, and premium residential clients.
As the business continues to grow, they're investing in their pre-construction team by hiring a dedicated Commercial Landscape Estimator to own the estimating and bidding process from bid invitation through proposal submission.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with construction plans, digital takeoffs, estimating software, and helping win new business.
This role owns the estimating process for commercial landscape and irrigation projects.
Working from project plans and bid invitations, you'll prepare accurate quantity takeoffs, develop project estimates, produce professional proposals, and track bids through award.
You'll work closely with ownership while becoming the primary person responsible for keeping the bidding pipeline organized, accurate, and moving forward.
Success in this position comes from strong attention to detail, excellent organization, and the ability to manage multiple commercial bids simultaneously.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
- Perform accurate digital quantity takeoffs for landscape, irrigation, grading, planting, and site work.
- Interpret project plans and identify material, labor, and scope requirements.
- Review addenda and specification changes throughout the bidding process.
- Identify missing information and prepare RFIs when clarification is required.
- Prepare detailed project estimates and professional proposals.
- Maintain accurate pricing databases and estimating templates.
- Organize bid documents, revisions, and proposal versions.
- Ensure bids are submitted accurately and before project deadlines.
- Support continuous improvements to estimating processes and documentation.
- Monitor incoming bid opportunities through BuildingConnected and other client portals.
- Coordinate bid schedules and submission deadlines.
- Track active bids and proposal status.
- Follow up with General Contractors regarding submitted proposals.
- Gather feedback to improve future bid success.
- Maintain organized project files and estimating records.
- Update supplier pricing and material costs.
- Support ownership with reporting and estimating metrics.
- Assist in building scalable estimating workflows as the company continues to grow.
- 2+ years of estimating, bidding, construction administration, or project coordination experience.
- Ability to read and interpret commercial construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience performing digital quantity takeoffs.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Nice to Have

- Experience using estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff, StackCT, Procore, PlanSwift, or similar platforms.
- Commercial landscaping, irrigation, civil construction, or site development experience.
- Experience preparing Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Familiarity with commercial subcontractor bidding processes.
You enjoy producing accurate estimates and take pride in delivering high-quality work.
You can manage multiple bids, deadlines, and revisions without losing track of important details.
You take ownership of your projects, follow up independently, and keep work moving without constant supervision.
You communicate effectively with ownership, suppliers, and General Contractors while supporting the broader project team.
You're comfortable learning new estimating tools and enjoy improving processes through technology.
