We are a rapidly growing construction company based in the United States, currently scaling operations and expanding into new service lines. With ~45–50 employees and strong year-over-year growth (~80%+), we are entering a critical phase where financial discipline, forecasting accuracy, and cost control are essential to sustained success.
Our current finance structure includes a part-time bookkeeper, external accountant, and fractional CFO. We are now seeking a full-time Financial Controller to take ownership of day-to-day financial operations and bring structure, visibility, and strategic insight to the business.
This is a high-impact, hands-on Financial Controller role responsible for owning the company’s financial operations, reporting, and forward-looking planning.
You will act as the central financial leader in the business—bridging bookkeeping, accounting, and strategic finance—while working directly with the owner and leadership team.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-growing, unstructured environments, and can build systems, improve controls, and proactively guide financial decision-making.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Own and oversee day-to-day financial operations across the business
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data, reports, and cash positions
- Manage and coordinate with bookkeeper, accountant, and fractional CFO
- Monitor accounts, transactions, and inter-account cash movements
- Maintain real-time visibility into company cash flow
- Forecast short-term and long-term cash needs
- Proactively manage liquidity, ensuring smooth operations without fire drills
- Eliminate reactive financial management (e.g., last-minute fund transfers)
- Build and maintain dynamic financial models and forecasts
- Develop budgets that reflect rapid growth (not just historical data)
- Provide weekly and monthly financial insights to leadership
- Support scenario planning for scaling operations and new initiatives
- Identify cost inefficiencies and implement controls
- Analyze spending patterns and recommend optimization strategies
- Ensure the business operates with strong financial discipline
- Deliver measurable ROI through cost savings and improved margins
- Produce weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports
- Translate financial data into actionable business insights
- Support leadership in decision-making with clear financial visibility
- Help build scalable financial systems and processes
- Clear, accurate, and timely financial reporting across the business
- Strong control over cash flow with no reactive “fire drills”
- Budgets and forecasts that reflect real growth (not just historical trends)
- Reduced unnecessary spend and improved financial efficiency
- Leadership confidently relying on you for financial clarity and direction
Requirements
~1 min read- 5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or financial management
- Strong experience in FP&A, budgeting, and forecasting
- Proven ability to manage cash flow in a growing business
- Experience working in construction, project-based, or similar industries (strongly preferred)
- Advanced proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets (financial modeling)
- Strong understanding of financial statements and reporting
- Excellent English communication skills (C1/C2 level)
Nice to Have
