The Tax Associate is responsible for supporting the preparation, filing, and review of tax returns while ensuring compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves analyzing financial information, assisting clients or internal stakeholders with tax-related matters, and contributing to accurate tax planning and reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to build expertise in U.S. federal taxation and accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns in compliance with U.S. federal and state regulations.
- Assist in tax research and stay updated on changes in U.S. federal and state tax laws.
- Support senior tax staff in audits, tax planning, and special projects.
- Review financial records, reports, and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Identify potential tax issues and recommend solutions or opportunities for savings.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
- Communicate with clients, stakeholders, or internal teams to gather necessary tax-related information.
- Assist in preparing quarterly and annual tax provisions and reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with deadlines and deliverables in accordance with internal policies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 1-5 years of experience in tax, accounting, or auditing (internship or entry-level experience acceptable).
- Strong knowledge of U.S. federal tax regulations; familiarity with state tax compliance is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and tax/accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, ProSeries, or similar).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- CPA eligibility or progress toward CPA certification is a plus.
- Experience with corporate, international, or multi-state tax filings.
- Familiarity with ERP or financial management systems.
- Strong interest in continuous learning and professional development in taxation.
