What We Offer
~1 min readThe Pole Engineer is responsible for the creation, review and editing of make ready and pole loading calculations. Reviews and interprets field survey data in order to design and engineer aerial plant.
The Pole Engineer will work with various departments and vendors to collect needed information in order to engineer pole attachments and compile application documents. Experience with electric utilities, telecommunications or an engineering services company is required.
The Pole Engineer is a full time, exempt position. The work schedule may vary due to project construction responsibilities. This role can be done fully remote.
No travel is needed.

Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Act as an internal consultant to the Plant Team: gathering information on Plant fiber projects, providing strategies and options for advancing Sonic's goals.
- →Maintain positive working relationships and open communication within all workgroups.
- →Demonstrate knowledge of outside plant design and new attachment permitting processes.
- →Develop Sonic fiber project solutions, well organized and highly adaptable to an ever-changing environment.
- →Help find creative ways to get Sonic on poles using all known engineering tools available.
- →Work within the pole engineering team in a collaborative environment to ensure projects are handed off to construction per internal schedules.
- →Produce project make-ready engineering documents escalating project issues to the Plant Project Manager and Plant project team members.
Requirements
~1 min read- Three years of experience in outside plant survey and make ready design for aerial fiber, structure access and joint pole field inspections.
- A thorough knowledge and understanding of General Order 95 of the state of California and NESC (National Electric Safety Code).
- A good understanding of joint pole new attachment permitting.
- A working knowledge of all joint pole regulatory compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to develop motivated, collaborative and productive cross-functional teams.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Solid knowledge of aerial construction, products, vendors and support alternatives.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication and presentation skills.
- Experience in one or all of following pole loading programs: O-Calc, Spida-Calc and EZ-Load
