Senior Principal Engineer – Go / Golang experience is a must

Role Overview 

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Principal Engineer to lead the technical vision and execution for the SonicWall Cloud Secure Edge (CSE) platform. In this role, you will drive the evolution of a cloud-native Security Service Edge (SSE) platform that delivers secure, Zero Trust access to applications, SaaS, and enterprise resources globally. 

You will act as a technology leader and architect, shaping the long-term direction of systems powering capabilities such as Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), secure web gateway, VPN-as-a-Service, and policy-driven access control, enabling enterprises to transition to modern, cloud-delivered security architectures. 

What You’ll Do 

• Define and drive platform architecture, technical vision, and long-term system evolution.
• Lead design of large-scale, distributed, cloud-native systems with high scalability and resilience.
• Own and evolve API and platform strategy across multiple teams
• Drive cross-team technical alignment, architecture reviews, and engineering standards
• Solve complex scalability, reliability, and performance challenges at scale
• Partner with product, security, and leadership teams to shape platform direction.
• Mentor senior engineers and build technical leadership capability across the organization.
• Champion AI-first engineering practices to improve developer productivity and quality 

What You’ll Bring 

• 12+ years of experience building large-scale distributed systems and platforms.
• Deep expertise in Go/C/C++/Rust, concurrency, and system design.
• Strong knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS) and system internals.
• Proven experience designing cloud-native architectures and scalable APIs/platforms 

Domain Leadership (Critical) 

• Deep expertise in secure access and Zero Trust architectures, including:
• ZTNA (Zero Trust Network Access)
• SSE / SASE platforms
• SWG, CASB, VPN-as-a-Service

Proven ability to design systems enforcing:

• Identity-based access (authentication & authorization)
• Device posture validation and continuous trust
• Policy-driven, least-privilege access at scale.
• Strong understanding of enterprise security challenges, threat models, and secure access patterns.
• Ability to translate domain expertise into platform abstractions, services, and API strategy 

Leadership & AI-First Mindset 

• Proven track record of org-level technical leadership and cross-team influence.
• Ability to drive long-term architecture strategy (3–5 years).
• Strong ability to define and scale AI-first engineering practices using tools like Copilot and Claude.
• Ensures AI-assisted development maintains high standards of correctness, security, and performance
