We are looking for a Software Asset Manager (SAM) to take ownership of our software ecosystem. Managing over 90 applications for 800+ employees, you will be the bridge between IT, Procurement, Finance, and Project Management.
Your goal is to balance efficiency with cost-control—ensuring our teams have the tools they need while maintaining absolute license compliance and eliminating waste. You’ll be the point person for software renewals, cost reconciliation, and vendor relations, keeping our operations running smoothly and predictably.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Maintain a precise, real-time registry of all software assets to ensure full visibility into license pools, assignments, and usage
- →Manage the end-to-end license lifecycle, including provisioning, transferring, and revoking licenses, keeping all records synced with ITSM requests
- →Reconcile monthly software spend against active licenses and invoices to provide clear reports to Finance
- →Identify idle licenses or redundant plans through regular usage audits to reallocate resources or negotiate downgrades
- →Manage the renewal calendar proactively by engaging with Finance and Project Leads 60-90 days in advance of contract expirations
- →Monitor seat limits and scale procurement workflows ahead of demand to prevent project roadblocks
- →Serve as the primary contact for vendors to navigate licensing terms and audits, while collaborating with stakeholders to drive software standardization and tool consolidation
- →Ensure all project environments adhere to security policies and licensing restrictions while delivering transparent reporting on budget utilization and forecasting
Requirements
~1 min read- Proven experience with SAM tools or ITSM asset management modules like ServiceNow, Freshservice, or Snow Software
- Strong background in budget reconciliation, expense auditing, and cost-allocation modeling
- Solid understanding of complex licensing models, ranging from SaaS per-user plans to node-locked or concurrent licensing
- Advanced Excel or BI skills for reporting, pivot tables, and cost analysis
- Excellent negotiation skills with a diplomatic approach to driving tool consolidation and managing vendor relationships
- Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to manage hundreds of invoices and 90+ applications simultaneously
- Familiarity with low-code tools like n8n or Okta Workflows, or scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell, is a plus for automating license tracking
- Ability to balance strict compliance needs with the flexible, fast-paced requirements of different project teams
Nice to Have
