The Koch Associate Program (KAP) is a career accelerator for early to mid-career professionals with a drive to tackle our country’s most pressing challenges in more effective, principled ways. KAP equips associates with the tools, mindsets, and community to succeed as social entrepreneurs—individuals excited to find new and better ways to break barriers and eliminate injustice. Associates spend one day each week engaging in experiential learning with Stand Together Fellowships and work at one of our many partner organizations the rest of the week. Our curriculum is designed to supercharge your development and equip you for long-term success as you seek to have an impact on the problems that prevent people from realizing their potential.

The Abundance Institute is a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to creating the legal and social space for emerging technologies to thrive. We believe technological progress is the primary driver of human flourishing. Rather than merely managing the status quo, we work to identify and dismantle the regulatory barriers that inhibit innovation, empowering founders and policymakers to build a future of abundance.

We are seeking a Policy Analyst to amplify our energy research and education efforts. In this role, you will translate complex technical and regulatory hurdles into actionable policy ideas, with a primary focus on state-level energy reforms. We are looking for an individual who rejects degrowth mindsets and is eager to grow the energy abundance movement through market-based solutions. We operate with a startup mentality. As an agile team, we value proactivity and the ability to pivot across different verticals as needed to advance our mission.

  • Policy Research & Analysis: Analyze the energy policy landscape and legislative trends to identify regulatory bottlenecks. Develop ideas to accelerate infrastructure deployment and expand open energy markets. Monitor legislation, identify inflection point opportunities for engagement, and write testimony or other supporting written materials.
  • Strategic Communication: Distill complex topics into white papers, policy briefs, and op-eds for policymakers and stakeholder audiences.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build relationships across think tanks, policymakers, tech founders, and energy providers connect them to engagement opportunities. Attend briefings, coalition meetings, and events as a representative of Abundance Institute.
  • Regulatory Fluency: Knowledgeable about the energy regulatory landscape, primarily at the state level, with a secondary understanding of federal opportunities.
