The Payroll Manager partners closely with the Accounting and Finance teams, as well as other internal departments, to ensure accurate and compliant payroll operations.
About the Role
~1 min readThe Payroll Manager plays a critical role in overseeing and executing all aspects of payroll processing for the organization. This position requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to manage sensitive information in a fast-paced environment. The role also supports broader accounting functions and contributes to process improvement initiatives.
- Manage and process payroll accurately and on time, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
- Ensure proper setup and maintenance of payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes
- Maintain accurate payroll reports and documentation for internal use and audits
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local wage and tax regulations
- Lead payroll audits by preparing and providing required documentation
- Collaborate with Accounting on reconciliations and financial reporting related to payroll
- Identify and implement improvements to payroll systems, processes, and internal controls
- Support additional accounting-related tasks as needed (e.g., reporting, data analysis)
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and financial information
Requirements
~1 min read- Strong knowledge of payroll processes, including tax compliance, reporting, and internal controls
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and payroll software systems
- Experience with Vista/Viewpoint or similar systems preferred
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer
- Ability to maintain focus and accuracy when working with detailed data
- Normal or corrected vision and hearing
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of payroll or related accounting experience required
