We are seeking a dedicated, proactive and approachable Pupil Supervision and Pastoral Support Assistant to help maintain a safe, respectful and well supervised school environment. 

The postholder will support pupils across a range of school settings, including corridors, areas around pupil toilets, the canteen, playgrounds, school grounds, arrival and dismissal areas, and other shared spaces. The role requires someone who is confident working with children and young people, able to set clear boundaries, and committed to supporting pupil wellbeing, safeguarding and positive behaviour. 

This is a pupil supervision and pastoral support role. The postholder will not be responsible for planning, delivering or assessing lessons, nor will they replace the role of a teacher. 

St. Paul’s was founded in 1926 and was the first school in South America to receive accreditation from the UK government as a British School Oversees. Fully coeducational, with about 1,000 pupils, aged from 3 to 18, it is a school with history and tradition, but which embraces innovation, contemporary values and the latest in digital learning. Languages 

Fluent or highly proficient in English and Portuguese.

The successful candidate will be positive, proactive, calm and confident. They will have a firm but approachable interpersonal style and will be able to build respectful relationships with pupils while maintaining clear professional boundaries. 

They will be consistent, reliable and able to respond to situations with discretion, maturity and good judgement. 

Required Skills and Experience 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with children and young people. 

    Ability to remain calm, patient and consistent when managing pupil behaviour. 

    Strong communication skills in English and Portuguese. 

    Ability to work collaboratively with pastoral, wellbeing, safeguarding, teaching and operations teams. 

    Good judgement and the ability to escalate concerns appropriately. 

    High level of reliability, punctuality and professional discretion. 

    Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, both indoors and outdoors. 

    Previous experience working with children or young people in a school, camp, sports, recreation or similar setting is highly desirable. 

    Required Qualification 

    High school diploma or equivalent as a minimum requirement. 

    Additional training in child supervision, safeguarding, first aid, youth work, education or related areas would be desirable.
