Summit Products is seeking a knowledgeable, approachable, and detail-oriented Human Resources Generalist to support employees and leaders in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position reports directly to the Business Operations Manager and is responsible for a broad range of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits and leave administration, training, records management, policy administration, and employment-law compliance.
The Human Resources Generalist will work closely with operations leadership to support a positive employee experience while balancing business needs, consistency, confidentiality, and compliance.
Essential Responsibilities
- Partner with managers and employees to provide day-to-day HR guidance, support, and policy interpretation.
- Support full-cycle recruiting, including posting jobs, screening applicants, coordinating interviews, conducting reference checks, preparing offers, and communicating with candidates.
- Coordinate new-hire onboarding, orientation, employment documentation, HRIS entry, and employee file maintenance.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and compliant personnel records, including employee status changes, attendance documentation, performance records, and required employment forms.
- Assist with employee relations matters, including concerns, coaching, investigations, corrective action, conflict resolution, and workplace-policy questions.
- Support performance-management processes, including evaluation timelines, documentation, manager coaching, and follow-up.
- Administer and respond to questions regarding employee benefits, open enrollment, retirement plans, leave programs, workers’ compensation, and other HR-related programs.
- Coordinate leave administration and required documentation for FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers’ compensation, personal leave, and other applicable leave programs.
- Assist with payroll-related employee changes, timekeeping questions, wage updates, deductions, and record accuracy.
- Help develop, update, communicate, and enforce company policies, procedures, employee handbook materials, and workplace notices.
- Support HR compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and recordkeeping requirements.
- Assist with employee training, safety communications, employee engagement activities, recognition programs, and company events.
- Prepare HR reports, maintain data accuracy, and assist with workforce metrics such as turnover, attendance, headcount, and recruiting activity.
- Support exit interviews, separation documentation, final-pay coordination, and offboarding procedures.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality with all employee and business information.
- Perform other HR-related duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Two or more years of progressive human resources experience preferred.
- Experience supporting HR functions in a manufacturing, warehouse, production, or other fast-paced operational environment is preferred.
- Working knowledge of employment practices, employee relations, benefits, leave administration, recruiting, and HR compliance.
- Familiarity with federal and Iowa employment laws, including wage-and-hour practices, FMLA, ADA, EEO, workers’ compensation, and employment-record requirements.
- Experience using HRIS, applicant-tracking, payroll, and timekeeping systems preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are strongly preferred but not required.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to work in an office and manufacturing environment.
- Ability to occasionally walk through production, warehouse, and outdoor work areas.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, communicate, and use standard office equipment throughout the workday.
- Ability to occasionally lift or move materials up to 20 pounds.
