Festival Manager, Transportation

The Festival Manager, Transportation is charged with managing the operations and logistics of all things related to transportation for the Sundance Film Festival. This position oversees four seasonal employees.

Working closely under the Senior Manager, Transportation & Production Operations, the Manager ensures transportation logistics for the annual Festival are a success.

• Managing the creation of all transportation operations and logistics plans for the Festival.

• Working closely with the City of Boulder, State of Colorado, University, and other partners on all aspects of transportation, designing comprehensive traffic and parking mitigation plans, managing vendor relationships, road closures, loading zones, and general flow.

• Working with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) on jurisdictions beyond Boulder City limits.

• Creating Lot flows for all venue internal needs.

• Working with RTD and Via mobility on all bus-related needs including considerations around accessibility.

• Working with the parking lot vendor to ensure that they are staffed appropriately and provide issue resolution as necessary.

• Reviewing, understanding, and ensuring adherence to all transportation contracts.

• Working with our insurance broker to review and update vehicle accident procedures and forms.

• Managing the budget for transportation, including the monthly tracking of expenses, processing of invoices, and managing in-kind agreements.

• Managing timelines, procedures, and deadlines related to rental and sponsor vehicles.

• Creating and maintaining transportation fleet fuel accounts.

• Managing the distribution of all gas pin cards (VIK’s), parking assignments, and parking passes.

• Managing bus routes and schedules to ensure all can access the Festival, and locating lots where buses can deadhead while waiting for their pickup times.

• Identifying and operationalizing accessible parking across theaters and venues.

• Providing solutions for transportation companies on where to drop off/pick up their riders

• Researching and building transportation and operational plans for moving volunteers and staff to and from lodging.

• Collaborating with our production team to provide necessary accessories (bike barricades T1, and T3’s) that encompass tent and access needs.

• Working with Artist Relations to ensure the best possible access for getting talent into venues.

• Working with the Security team to provide all necessary access.

• Compiling transportation information for use by the Communications team.

• Collaborating with internal departments to plan for and meet transportation needs, including creating and conducting staff transportation training.

• Creating operational plans for transportation volunteers.

• Managing seasonal employees and volunteers, including selecting and training highly effective employees, providing direction, feedback, and support to ensure they understand responsibilities and are effective.

• Collaborating with the Marketing team to create maps for print and online publications, identifying signage needs for bus stops and other related areas.

• Ordering transportation and vehicle equipment (signage, barricades, and supplies), including reordering supplies that need to be replenished post-Festival.

• Overseeing the distribution of all transportation signage as well as daily repositioning of the signage as needed.

• Providing operational assistance and support for other Institute programs, as needed.

• Writing and delivering a comprehensive wrap report before the conclusion of employment, including ensuring external stakeholders are notified of their new point of contact.

• 3 years of experience in event transportation and logistics.

• Valid driver's license and successful completion of an MVR background check and a valid DOT physical card or the ability to obtain one.

• Ability to drive a 16’ to 24’ box truck (over 10,000 lbs) with lift gates, as needed.

• Leadership skills, including demonstrated experience managing and training employees.

• Experience managing a budget.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Applications.

• Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people.

• Strong project management skills.

• Ability to lift up to 50-75 lbs. chest high.

• Ability to drive a 4-wheel drive vehicle in winter road conditions.

• Knowledge of the Boulder and the surrounding area is helpful.

• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
