The Collections Specialist is responsible for managing customer accounts receivable by contacting customers regarding past-due balances, resolving invoice issues, and partnering with Sales, Customer Service, and Credit to support timely payment. This role helps maintain strong aging and DSO performance while providing professional, customer-focused service.

Manage an assigned portfolio of customer accounts and follow up on past-due balances through phone, email, and other communication methods.

Research and resolve invoice discrepancies, payment issues, and customer disputes in partnership with Sales and Customer Service.

Maintain accurate account records and document collection activity, customer commitments, and account status.

Partner with the Credit Analyst and Sales team to resolve issues and support timely collections.

Monitor customer accounts to identify potential payment issues and take appropriate follow-up action.

Assist with month-end reporting and provide data related to collections and accounts receivable.

Support company goals for accounts receivable aging and DSO.

Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.

High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

2+ years of collections, accounts receivable, or related experience.

Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to professionally handle customer payment discussions.

Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple accounts, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Strong customer service skills and the ability to build positive relationships while effectively pursuing payment.
