Certified Nurse Midwife or Nurse Practitioner - OB Triage - Per Diem

We are searching for a Certified Nurse Midwife — someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide independent midwifery services to patients but collaborate with the attending physician and interdisciplinary health team.

This is a Per Diem position working nights 7p-7a. 

• →Required master's degree Science in Nursing -For employees hired with Texas Children’s before 03/01/17, an MSN is required for NPs licensed 01/01/03 or after. -For employees hired with Texas Children’s before 03/01/17, either an MSN or a certificate program is required for NPs licensed prior to 01/01/03.

  Required Licenses/Certifications: RN - Lic-Registered Nurses by the Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact AND NP - Nurse Practitioner by the Texas Board of Nursing, FNP - Cert-Family Nurse Practitioner by the Texas Board of Nursing OR WHNP-BC - Cert-Womens Health Care NP by the Texas Board of Nursing

• →Daily uses advanced practice knowledge and skills to systematically collect and evaluate health assessment data and manage patients' caseload. 
• →Obtains a comprehensive health, developmental, and family history on patients as documented in the patient’s medical record.  
• →Assess the patient’s physical status through the physical examination as documented in the patient’s medical record.  
• →Differentiates between normal and abnormal findings as documented in the patient’s medical record.  
• →Performs or recommends age-appropriate health screening procedures as documented in the patient’s medical record.  
• →Provides health maintenance and health promotion for women of all ages as documented in the patient’s medical record.  
• →Performs and evaluates diagnostic procedures and laboratory tests as documented in the patient’s medical record.  
• →Analyzes multiple sources of data and formulates a differential diagnosis in collaboration with physicians as demonstrated in the written documentation.  
• →Follows established delegation protocols to manage specific patient problems.  
• →Formulates a plan of care in collaboration with other health care professionals and documents the plan in the patient’s medical record.  
• →Accurately evaluates patient’s responses to interventions and modifies the plan of care demonstrated by written documentation.  
• →Consistently demonstrates effective communication skills and works to eliminate communication barriers.  
• →Consistently serves as an educational resource for the patient and family, community, and other health care professionals.  
• →Consistently applies new knowledge relevant to clinical practice.
• →Demonstrates current professional, managerial, and/or technical knowledge and skills.  
• →Demonstrates NP role behaviors consistent with the development of advanced nursing practice.  
• →Participates in departmental Quality Improvement program annually. Participates in at least one QI aspect of care, which shows improvement, related to patient outcome.
