We’re looking for a a qualified and reliable Project Coordinator to join our team.

 

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION



As the Project Coordinator you will oversee and coordinate project implementation, supervision and monitoring, assist the project field officers with training, and monitor partner project staff to improve education for communities, including vulnerable groups. Reporting to the education manager, the project coordinator will ensure the delivery of project activities, provide supervision and mentor of implementing partners staff to guarantee the quality and timely delivery of key project activities, strong collaboration with the relevant ministries, and adequate program visibility.  The project coordinator will also support to ensure that the project implementation is aligned with ChildFund Australia education sector and Child safeguarding approach, internal policies, procedures, and donor requirements.



KEY DUTIES:


    • Responsible for the implementation, supervision, and monitoring of the Early Development and Intervention (EDIC) project in Liquica, Lautem and Learning without Limit (ALL- Aprende Laiha Limitasaun) project Manatuto.
    • Provide leadership in activity planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, learning and tracking the delivery of key project activities including but not limited to; regular meetings with school management committees (SMCs) and capacity building, community parenting education sessions linking with SMCs and supporting sustainability of the Community-based Pre-schools (CBPS)through facilitating SMC’s in their School improvement plans and obtaining school licensing as well as advocacy initiatives.
    • Collaborating with Education Manager to manage the project budget.
    • Provides technical support and mentoring of Field Officers to implement effectively the activities based on the project work plan and agreed standards including support writing of monthly and quarterly progress reports and documentation of success stories.
    • Undertakes regular field visits to the CBPS to monitor progress and identify challenges, emerging issues and recommendations working with the Field Officers in Manatuto, Liquica and Lautem.
    • Liaises with District Education Offices and relevant government ministries (MoE, MSSI, MoH) and other child-focused organizations for coordination, advocacy, and sharing of best practices on education related works.
    • Provided technical support to project field officer for the successful implementation of parenting education, community engagement and children access to reading session activities.
    • Involves in identifying new project ideas and funding opportunities in education sector as well as in the design and development of new project proposal.
    • Represents ChildFund in education meetings, forums conferences and networks with stakeholders both at national and sub-national levels.
    • Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding or sexual exploitation, abuse, or harassment (SEAH) risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding and PSEAH policy and procedures, and conduct yourself consistent with those policies.
    • Maintain quality project data, ensure MEL database is up to date in coordination with the MEL team and reporting requirements are met.
    • Provide technical and compliance support to ensure that the project(s) is implemented in accordance with the project design, ChildFund, and donor requirements.
    • Proactive collaboration with other teams (Finance, Operations, HR Admin, MEL, and Communication) and sectors where relevant.
    • Supervise staff activities according to an agreed work plan and monitor monthly work performance of staff.
    • Facilitate team work to address and solve team conflict.
    • Strengthen local partnerships and/or relationships, e.g., through capacity sharing to support localization, based on the organization’s partnership arrangements and management strategies.
    • Act as a focal point in the organization (to be selected based on experience and interest), i.e., with regards to Child Safeguarding or Gender Equality, Disability Inclusion.
    • Promote and integrate gender equality, disability, and social inclusion into day-to-day work.


Qualifications and Experience:


  • University Degree in Education, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated skills in project coordination and team management with an (I)NGO.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience working in education project implementation and coordination
  • Ability to coordinate project implementation, while ensuring effective monitoring, evaluation and learning processes are maintained
  • Experience of working successfully with diverse multi-country, multi-language team
  • Willingness to travel frequently to municipalities (60-80%) and work closely with local communities in remote areas


Desirable:

  • Experience in the international development/NGO

or government sector in Timor-Leste

  • Experience overseeing administration and logistics processes

This role is a full time, fixed term role for an initial 1 years, open to locally engaged staff, based in our office in Dili.
