Power Design Specialist

Role Purpose The Role is responsible for ensuring reliable, efficient, and future‑ready AC and DC power solutions across all network sites, from data centres and mobile exchanges to retail outlets. The role combines strategic planning and design with hands‑on technical support, overseeing critical infrastructure such as generators, UPS, rectifiers, batteries, solar systems, and protection equipment to drive business growth and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities •Undertake Power capacity analysis and problem findings focusing on major facilities by redesigning and implementation of requisite power requirements to cater for existing and future needs of the business. •Prepare and implement power design policy for all new Power projects and Cooling requirements undertaken in Telecel based on best practices to meet Telecel expectations at Data Centres, MTX Site and Exchanges. •Drive standardization and policies for all power products including renewable energy Systems used in the network to ensure Telecel move away from using different types of equipment in the power space. •Undertake all power designs, prepare tender documents, and evaluate bids for all Power and Cooling project at Data Centres, MTX Site, Exchanges and tower sites for own sites/colocation and ensure successful implementation. •Undertake annual audit for all AC, DC Power Systems, cooling facilities and earthing and lightning protections across all 32- exchanges and prepare corrective plans and submit for implementation. •Prepare acceptance test documents and ensure all completed projects are duly signed off based on their design requirements. •Assist the entire Business Units including Transmission, IT, Core network, Property and Service Operation with their ad hoc power needs and ensure their successful implementation. •Specialised in Cooling Systems for Data Centres, Telephone Exchanges, Retail Shops and Cafes. •In-depth knowledge in Renewable energy systems specifically Solar Systems. •Experience in Budget planning and formulating power strategy •Excellent I.T. and database skills. (MS Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD.) •Experience in managing vendors and analysing contracts and RFQs Must have Technical / Professional Qualifications •Have a degree in Electrical, Electronic or Telecommunications Engineering. •Qualification in Project management (PRINCE2 or PMP) would be an added advantage. •Minimum of 5 years’ experience in specialised power planning, power operations and maintenance and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in telecommunications
