Roles & Responsibilities |
| Primary Objectives | - The DGM – Automation & Energy Management leads regional technology transformation, electrification, and energy optimisation initiatives across Business Units in SCO, Central Asia, Levant & Egypt, with a strong focus on fuel (litres) and electricity (kWh) efficiency, driving digitalization, decarbonization, and sustainable engineering practices aligned with global strategies.
- The role ensures integrated deployment of advanced systems and lifecycle-based asset strategies, with increasing relevance to data centre infrastructure and energy-intensive operations, while maintaining safety, regulatory compliance, reliability, and engineering excellence.

| Key responsibilities | - Lead regional technology transformation and electrification initiatives, aligned with Global Engineering, digitalization, and decarbonization objectives.
- Develop and execute multi-horizon (short-, mid-, long-term) roadmaps with clearly defined energy intensity (litres & kWh), performance, and efficiency KPIs.
- Drive deployment of advanced systems connected infrastructure, and renewable solutions to enhance asset performance, availability, and optimize fuel and electricity consumption.
- Deliver carbon reduction and energy optimisation programs, including reduction in fuel consumption (litres) and electrical usage (kWh) through electrification, hybrid solutions, and low-emission technologies.
- Support development and optimisation of data centre and high-density electrical infrastructure within the region.
- Apply TCO, lifecycle planning, and reliability engineering to critical regional assets and infrastructure.
- Govern management systems and digital platforms, ensuring integrity of operational, asset, fuel, electricity consumption, and emissions data across enterprise tools (EAMS, GEAR, ESG platforms).
- Leverage & standardize data analytics and predictive insights to reduce energy losses, improve efficiency, and identify optimization opportunities across fuel and power usage.
- Assess and deploy emerging technologies, including AI/IoT-enabled solutions and digital platforms across engineering operations.
- Ensure compliance with technical standards, regulatory requirements, electrical safety, energy norms, ESG policies, and equipment specifications (I-Spec).
- Drive LEAN, risk, and reliability improvement initiatives, with focus on energy efficiency and high-consumption assets.
- Support capital planning, procurement, and vendor governance for projects involving electrification, energy systems, and data centre infrastructure.
- Build engineering capability and stakeholder alignment, supported by regional dashboards including fuel and electricity performance metrics.

Educational, Technical Qualifications, Required Skills |
| Key requirements | - Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical / Power Systems or related discipline); MBA or relevant Master’s preferred.
- 10–15 years of senior engineering leadership experience across ports, infrastructure, logistics, data centres, or heavy industrial environments.
- Strong foundation in electrical engineering, power distribution, and grid-interface fundamentals, with exposure to high energy-demand environments such as data centres.
- Working knowledge of industrial control environments, enterprise engineering systems, and cybersecurity basics.
- Exposure to capital governance, vendor evaluation, and contract administration for large engineering programs.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in multi-country, multi-cultural, matrix organisations.
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder management capability.
