Environmental Health And Safety Specialist

1. General Summary: Responsible for completing tasks as assigned related to Safety and Health. Responsible for Standard Tasks, Plant Audit/Support Activity, Hoshin Kanri Objectives, and other tasks as assigned.
2. Essential Job Functions:

• EHS Standard Tasks – Assigned tasks that are routine and repetitive as part of department activity. Member may perform any of these tasks.
  1. Safety – Tasks may involve incident management (receiving, processing and summarizing reports), incident SHOTGUNs, on-site verification of incident details & countermeasures, preparing and presenting reports for internal, TBJ and customer meetings.
  2. Health – Performing support to health functions such as Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, distribution of health month materials, preparing and presenting reports for Health activities.
  3. Org Chart Management and Updates
  4. Managing MSDS Online System
  5. Managing CHIPS Program
  6. Incident Analysis and Reporting
  7. Quarterly Business Review Presentation
  8. JEC Meeting Presentation
  9. Monthly KPI Reporting
  10. OSHA Safe/Sound Month Activity
  11. TBSC (Toyota Boshoku Security Center) Registrations and Maintenance
  12. Other standard tasks as assigned

• Plant Support Functions – for assigned plant(s) complete the following:
  1. Respond to emergencies (FAT/CAT / Fire / Serious Incident) as needed and associated reporting
  2. On-site or remote support for OSHA/EPA/Local inspections, complaints, or violations
  3. Complete EHS audits for assigned plants (Safety & Health)
  4. On-site or remote support during vacancies/turnover as needed
  5. Knowledge of regulations of county, state, or country of assigned plant(s)
  6. Other plant support as required

• Hoshin Kanri
  1. Develop individual hoshin to achieve department hoshin objectives
  2. Monthly reporting of Hoshin status to department leadership

• General Duties
  1. Support requests from department or other divisions
  2. Daily e-mail management
  3. Schedule and conduct meetings as needed
  4. Other tasks as assigned by manager

• Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree highly preferred
• Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) -or-
• Environmental Science -or-
• Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, Electrical) -or-
• Linguistics (Spanish/Portuguese and/or Japanese) -or-
• Related Field

• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Certification as Occupational Safety and Health Technician (OSHTEC), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred, but not required.

• OSHA 30, CIAQM, Train the Trainer Courses for Qualified Work (PIT/Crane/Confined Space/Electrical/Etc. ISO14001/45001/50001 Lead Auditor Certifications) a plus, but not required

• Entry to 4 years of relevant experience

• Ability to perform in a self-directed work style and independently of others, as well as within a team setting.

1. Physical Demands:

Ability to sit and work on a computer for extensive periods of time as required.  While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear.  The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time.  Team member must be able to travel by car, air, and public transportation. Team member must be able to use ladders, hand tools, and engineering measurement devices.  Team member may be required to perform work at height and within confined spaces. Team member may be required to lift up to 30 pounds.
