Position Summary
The Die Setter / Mold Setter is responsible for performing mold and die changeovers, equipment setup, and process preparation for injection molding operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform mold and die changes according to production schedules.
- Install, remove, and secure molds in injection molding machines
- Verify proper machine settings and startup conditions before releasing equipment to production.
- Troubleshoot mold setup, startup, and processing issues to minimize downtime.
- Perform first-piece inspections and support quality verification during startup.
- Complete mold cleaning and preventive maintenance activities as required.
- Safely operate overhead cranes, hoists, and mold handling equipment.
- Maintain accurate setup, changeover, and maintenance records.
- Assist Process Technicians and Maintenance personnel with equipment troubleshooting and repairs.
- Follow all safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S standards.
- Support continuous improvement activities to reduce setup times and improve productivity.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to safely use overhead cranes and mold handling equipment.
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read setup sheets, process documentation, and work instructions.
- Ability to lift up to 55 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders and work around manufacturing equipment.
