Responsibilities
  • Support the development of satellite command and control, mission planning, and data processing software systems using Elixir/Phoenix and TypeScript/React
  • Contribute to team discussions on architecture, design, and code reviews
  • Collaborate with engineers across disciplines to build effective systems
  • Take on well-scoped tasks and features with guidance from experienced engineers
  • Write tests and follow established testing practices to maintain code quality
Basic Qualifications
  • Pursuing or recently completed a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Exposure to functional programming concepts through coursework, personal projects, or prior experience
  • Introductory experience with Elixir, Erlang, or similar functional languages (e.g., Haskell, Clojure, F#)
  • Familiarity with full stack frameworks like Phoenix or Ruby on Rails
  • Basic experience with HTML/CSS and modern JavaScript or TypeScript
  • Interest in resilient, fault-tolerant system design and distributed systems
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and aptitude for working across disciplines
  • Enjoys debugging and problem solving
  • A strong bias towards understanding how things work rather than accepting the status quo
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Familiarity with Elixir and OTP concepts including GenServers, supervision trees, or the Actor model
  • Familiarity with React or similar modern frontend frameworks
  • Exposure to databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
  • Exposure to testing frameworks or practices in any language
  • Interest in real-time or game engine backends
  • Familiarity with authentication concepts such as OAuth2 or role-based access controls
