In Ecuador, the Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) section plays a critical role in generating flexible and sustainable income to support UNICEF’s country programme. To achieve its fundraising objectives, PFP implements a range of acquisition and retention strategies aimed at recruiting donors and fostering their long-term commitment through recurring monthly contributions. Donor information management is centralized within the Business Intelligence (BI) Unit, which serves as the organization's “Source of Truth,” ensuring data integrity, financial reconciliation, and advanced data modeling to support informed decision-making and effective fundraising operations.

The Database Management Associate (Business Intelligence) directly contributes to strengthening and expanding fundraising operations in Ecuador by ensuring the efficient and reliable management of data. The position guarantees timely access to high-quality information through the supervision of database management processes and technical support staff, ensuring consistency across the systems managed by the BI area.

In addition, the role enhances strategic decision-making by providing accurate analysis, integrated reporting, and fundraising performance insights, enabling the identification of growth opportunities as well as potential risks. This position is key to ensuring the integrity of the data ecosystem, optimizing analytical processes, and strengthening the effectiveness of UNICEF Ecuador’s private sector fundraising strategies.

Under the direct supervision of the Fundraising Specialist (P3), the GS6 BI Associate will be responsible for steering the visual analytics strategy, data governance frameworks, and data reporting architecture. The main purpose of this position is to bridge the gap between technical data structures and financial goals, acting as a strategic partner to cross-functional PFP teams. The role will also supervise the BI team workflows.

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: Completion of secondary education is required, and professional and/or university-level courses related to the field of work, such as Economics, Data Analytics, Business Administration, Systems Engineering or others, are highly desirable. A bachelor’s degree from a recognized academic institution in a field relevant to the position may replace three years of related work experience. A master’s degree may replace an additional two years.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience in business intelligence, data analytics, systems database management, market research, analysis, or related functions.
  • Experience working in collaborative, cross-cultural, and multidisciplinary teams will be valued, as well as knowledge of financial processes, particularly revenue reconciliation and data analysis, and experience managing deliverables using agile methodologies (DevOps, Jira, ClickUp).
  • From a technical perspective, strong proficiency in data visualization tools is required, especially Power BI (DAX, Power Query, and data modeling), along with functional knowledge of Salesforce (Sales Cloud and reporting).
  • Skills: Power BI, DAX, Data Analytics, Data Visualization Tools, Reporting, Salesforce
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in Spanish and intermediate level of English language is required.

Desirables:

  • Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French or Russian) or a local language is an asset.
  • Experience with relational databases, SQL, and data manipulation tools is desirable, including Python for data analysis, cleaning, or automation.
  • Experience in working for international organizations would be desirable.
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
