UNICEF Uzbekistan advocates for quality and inclusiveness of basic education at pre-school and school levels and provides technical support to the Government of Uzbekistan across major areas of systemic reform in public education. UNICEF works closely with the Ministry of Preschool and School Education and other government counterparts, development partners, civil society organizations and education stakeholders to support national education priorities and ensure that all children and adolescents have equitable access to inclusive, quality and relevant education and learning opportunities.

The UNICEF Uzbekistan Education Programme focuses on four priority areas:
  • Education System Strengthening
  • Quality and Inclusive Teaching and Learning Environments
  • Early Childhood Education and School Readiness
  • Youth Engagement and Skills Development
The intern will support the Section with data collection and management, logistical organization, and administrative coordination to ensure efficient implementation of education programme activities of the above areas.

Specific tasks include, but are not limited to:
  • Support the collection, knowledge management, and organization of programme and monitoring data, including updating shared databases, spreadsheets, and digital filing systems.
  • Assist in organizing and preparing documentation, presentations, and reports related to education programme activities.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for meetings, workshops, and missions of international consultants — including coordination with participants, and preparation of meeting materials.
  • Liaise with programme officers to provide support in their areas
  • Perform short translations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
The intern must keep confidential any and all unpublished information made known during the course of the internship and not publish any reports or paper on the basis of information obtained except with the written approval and authorization of UNICEF.

As per Article 101, paragraph 3, of the Charter of the United Nations, the paramount consideration in the employment of the staff is the necessity of securing the highest standards of efficiency, competence, and integrity.

Government employees who are considered for employment with UNICEF are normally required to resign from their government positions before taking up an assignment with UNICEF. UNICEF reserves the right to withdraw an offer of appointment, without compensation, if a visa or medical clearance is not obtained, or necessary inoculation requirements are not met, within a reasonable period for any reason.

UNICEF does not charge a processing fee at any stage of its recruitment, selection, and hiring processes (i.e., application stage, interview stage, validation stage, or appointment and training). UNICEF will not ask for applicants’ bank account information.

Humanitarian action is a cross-cutting priority within UNICEF’s Strategic Plan. UNICEF is committed to stay and deliver in humanitarian contexts. Therefore, all staff, at all levels across all functional areas, can be called upon to be deployed to support humanitarian response, contributing to both strengthening resilience of communities and capacity of national authorities.

All UNICEF positions are advertised, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and advance to the next stage of the selection process. An internal candidate performing at the level of the post in the relevant functional area, or an internal/external candidate in the corresponding Talent Group, may be selected, if suitable for the post, without assessment of other candidates.
